The power-packed, spirit-filled and electrifying event, which is expected to end on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, is under the theme: ‘A People of God Unleashed to Transform Their World’ – 1 Peter 2:9, Acts 1:8.
The opening session of the maiden Pentecost 2024 event welcomed participants from the host country, Germany, as well as from the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Australia, China, and South Korea and a massive delegation from Ghana, where the Church is headquartered.
The session began with soul-lifting song ministrations and worship led by the venerable Pastor John Angoh and the Pentecost 2024 Mass choir. Renowned gospel musician from Nigeria, Sunmisola, also graced the stage and led participants through soothing gospel songs to set the stage for the word ministry by the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.
Opening the conference with a powerful sermon, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), gave a hint that Pentecost 2024 is a dress rehearsal of Pentecost 2026, which would be more mega than the maiden one.
Speaking on the topic, ‘The Church in God’s Plan of Redemption’ with the anchor scripture from Genesis 12:1-3.
Tracing the origin of the Israelite people and why God selected them as His own, Apostle Nyamekye revealed that God specifically chose them to show His glory to the rest of the world. However, the whole world is for God.
He indicated that the Messiah of the world came out of Israel, Jesus Christ, who came with the new order, the Church.
According to him, sometimes people think that Israel failed God, but that is not the case. He says, ‘Once God chooses you, He will not allow you to fail.’
He explained that in God’s mind, the seed from the woman’s womb will bring redemption. Once Israel produces the Messiah, Israel’s work is finished.
Chairman Nyamekye pointed out that with the coming of Christ, the old order (Jews and the Gentiles) has been rendered obsolete; there is a new order (the Church).
Further reading from Romans 10:9-11, he said that with the new order there is no difference Jews and Gentiles, since God is bringing all people from various races together in Christ, saying, ‘It doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor, white or black, anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved.’
He stated that the Church is a mystery revealed to the world. It is the most powerful institution on earth, extending the family of God in heaven.
‘The Church now takes the position of Israel,’ he said, adding, ‘Through us (the Church), the world will be blessed.’
Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, the International Missions Director of the Church of Pentecost, led the participants in a time of thrilling prayers after the sermon.
After a night filled with inspiring music, powerful word ministrations, and intense prayers, the Pentecost 2024 conference is expected to kickstart a global revival. It coincides with the celebration of Pentecost Week, 50 days after the commemoration of Easter.
